This was a fun and exciting project and an opportunity to step inside the world of a kindergartner once again. We were approached to design the bedroom of a kindergartner with a queen-size bed, a trundle bed, a study table, and ample storage for books and toys. A child at this age is very impressionable and so we decided to approach the design with a simple theme of nature- which never ceases to capture the imagination of a child and adult alike! From mountains to the skies and the clouds and stars, the room was filled with elements of nature in harmony.

The bedside storage and the backrest collide to give the impression of a unified element of decor in the form of layers of distant mountains. The unit in itself creates scenery for the backdrop along with wall shelves in the form of clouds. In a kid’s room, colours play an important role, and so going with the theme of nature the colour palette includes muted blues, yellows and greys with off-white in a few places. Colourful open bookshelves were installed, the sides of the bed are clad in fabric to avoid any sharp edges and doubles as a backrest when the trundle bed is pulled out to be used as a bench.
